Still, Axit (A for Alba) will be harder than Brexit. But the chances of doing better than Brexit are pretty high ;-)

The EU is busy unblocking it. What is the UK doing?

@neilmchardy9061 Oil prices are very quick to rise, slow to come down...

The biggest problem with the current hit on export, is that it takes some time for the repercussions to percolate through the economy. Now, Brexiteers can say that it is OK to sacrifice certain businesses that impact the economy in a limited way. But also the suppliers of those businesses will be hit. And then the suppliers to those suppliers. UK economy is in a tail-spin, but people haven't realised it yet.

@simonjohn9525 There never was a majority of voters in favour of this Brexit. That is the big lie, that the Tories somehow honour the wish of the People with this Brexit.

@David McCallum You are a prime example that Brexit adversely affects the function of the brain. What point are you making? We are talking here about what exports the UK has. Not about imports. The UK needs exports in order to prevent going bankrupt from the things it needs to import. It is called the trade balance. I know the UK used to offset its net import of goods with a net export of services, but those exports are even more knackered than those of foodstufs. And, without these specific exports a LOT of people are going to loose their jobs, not just the businesses directly involved, but also their suppliers. This all makes Brexit a catastrophic fuck-up, on a level that will be taught in future history classes. And it will inevitable lead to the UK re-joining the EU. If you want to direct the discussion away to something else, please try to use logic.

@David McCallum "A 67bn trade deficit with the EU proves we don't need them" So, by that reasoning, because I buy at the supermarket and don't sell anything, I don't need them??? Are you insane?

@David McCallum Complaining about the price of membership of the EU? You think the EU is expensive? As the price of added bureaucracy alone is far in excess of what the UK ever paid to the EU, I'd say Brexit is the stupidest move ever, from an economic standpoint. You don't switch supermarket to save a few pennies when you need to spend dozens of pounds on getting there. Well, perhaps you do. I wouldn't.

@David McCallum Why blame the EU for things that are and were under the purview of the UK government? Remember, whilst in the EU, the UK had more rights and power than any other EU member. That is over now. And I don't believe for a second that the EU somehow subsidised a factory to move out of the EU. That would be plain silly. Don't believe everything you read, my friend, especially in UK right-wing media. They tend to lie a lot.
