  3. There are significant changes in Jackson's adaptation, but most were necessary to tell a 1200-page story in only three movies. So characters had to be condensed, and things had to be shown instead of told. And e.g. Aragorn's arc had to be spread more evenly over the three movies. But why in Heaven's name take an IP to then not abide by its rules? FFS, make your own IP. Dwarves were a strictly Patriarchal society. Like most European societies in the age of legends. Don't like it? Your problem. But Tolkien did have societies with ruling women, like the Numenorians -- who were modeled on the Byzantine Empire or the earlier Greek kingdoms who had powerful female rulers like Cleopatra. So don't go around calling Tolkien or his fans misogynists. He just modeled European history & folklore. Don't like history? Go f yourself. History doesn't change because of your feelings.
