  2. You touch upon a certain community appropriating the concept of slavery. That is a particularly insidious movement. It is trying to pretend there was no slavery outside of the black experience. And going so far as to demand the removal of the words "slave" and "master" from computing, where the terms "slave" and "master" are fairly accurate descriptions of how some systems interact. I could never understand why as these systems are clearly completely removed from any human experience, but as I type this I realize that it must be because they want those words to only relate to black people and their oppressors. Which is totally untrue, there have been untold thousands of white slaves owned by North-African and Ottoman people even during the 19th century. There is a reason why the Slav people are called Slavs. That is because the Ottomans (and before them the Byzantines) got their slaves from them. Slavs are white people, many Christians, living in the Balkan region of Europe. And going back further in time, slavery was a normal condition for white people during the Viking age and Roman times. Some may argue that the system of Serfdom was a form of slavery. And even today, there are many white slaves in the world, exploited e.g. in the sex trade. Trying to pretend the last slaves in the world were the Black people working the plantations in the USA is a falsification of history and another demonstration of American ignorance and self-centeredness. Slavery (and all other forms of exploitation) still needs to be combated today. It is a permanent part of the Human Condition, that some human beings will try to exploit others.

  3. Promoting selfishness seems to be the main message of movies these days. I am not interested in somebody else's selfishness.
