  50. Feels to me that the more Americans realise that their institutions are not some neutrally independent body of noble democracy the better. Americans have always been far too naive about their institutions. To be honest the Supreme Court screwing up things does occur, they honestly thought their ruling would stop a civil war over slavery but instead inflamed tensions and openly perplexed (the judges) that it had that side effect. So the Supreme Court being out of step does occur
