  1. It has always been a very colonial thing that, in the whole, they are so brutal, but we are not - they are not brutal because we and what we have done to them. A prime example is in history the machine gun was deemed so vile for gentlemanly war that it was banned and condemned being used on the civilized (so this is pre-WW1) but they had no qualms about using it on colonials and indigenous populations. So they would set up machine guns in India, but they wouldn't use them on other empire soldiers because that was so dishonourable. Western society has always had that moat. That we can be so brutal to the other.
