  2. I was a Board certified Nephrology R.N. 35 years worth. I had to give it up when arthritis made movement so painful and difficult I could accidentally touch something I shouldn't have without noticing. Sterile fields were not going to happen for me anymore. Probably my darkest hour on my darkest day but stepping aside is what we are trained to do and should do. To admit your day is come and you can no longer do what you love is a dark day indeed.

  5. I left a career as a Board certified Nephrology Nurse because my arthritis made dealing with vascular accesses to painful and therefore too dangerous for the patient. I could even contaminate a setup without being aware so I retired. A very sad day for me but necessary. It took about a minute and a half to type this. You don't want arthritis, that's for sure.

  50. I was a nurse for 35years. At times carrying a huge amount of responsibility for the lives and well being of my patients. I shudder when I think the load ATC carry. I couldn't do it. One mistake, just one. and who is perfect? Then when it happens because the tower is short people that day and your load was overwhelming how could you live with yourself. No way. Too much.
