C'mon, where's your honest sense of history, are you going to tell us that they were well looked after with free rent as chattel slaves? Everyone in Ireland is well aware of the shameful whitewashing and racism it took to "integrate" Irish migrants into the fold of American society and recognition of being white by the 1930s/40s. What you might benefit from knowing is how divisions between class are the fuel of the American economy, and the subdivisions put upon the majority in working and middle classes to discriminate between politically arbitrary "illegality", race, religion, and other identities like sexual orientation. By your standards, every migrant, from England to seasonal workers from South of the border are illegals.
