Perhaps it's the economy itself, because of the tools of diplomacy and the constant need to grow the economy (and its politics to protect it with wars, austerity, media and sanctions) were the prime causes of climate change. How else is growth sustained without clearing forest for useable/arable or exploitable land to create goods that can be consumed by workers who can't possibly live without employment? Of course. Billionaires exist. Businesses that have portfolios bigger than medium sized countries like the oil industry are never questioned with retirement (let alone tax off shore) who fight tooth and nail to influence society and politics to ridicule climate change as well as secure any business in the foreseeable , such as plastic packaging for bananas, gas reformed Hydrogen, carbon capture tech to be used in fracking hydraulics. Even fracking itself was a political decision to insulate the US economy from global oil prices, it did a good job at making US oil glutting global supply to Russia's, Saudi Arabia's and Venezuela's dismay.
