  2. You have it completely backwards unfortunately. The biggest issue with towing is cooling. Electric vehicles when towing have less of an efficiency hit than diesels. The way torque of an engine and motor works differently, especially at high speeds, and a combustion engine can certain not regen down a hill. The biggest issue with most "pickup" EVs is the fact that they are pretentious luxury items that are built to attract customers with a masculine tickling brick shape rather than be clever and make an EV/PHEV Ford Maverick or Ranger. The second biggest issue particularly for OEMs is that they don't utilise heat generation of the motors and batteries into the climate control system, but rather they engineer separate cooling systems like in an ICE truck so the scenario exists where towing in cold temps means wasting heat from the motors and wasting more heavy keeping the cabin warm. It's crap
