  6. Western automakers have failed to compete by investing early. They have failed by fighting back EV mandates and cleaner emissions regulations since the 80s-90s. There should be no crocodile tears when Chinese electric cars dominate everything

  7. Only if you knew that currently there's less energy needed and carbon produced to run an electric car than an ICE. Not to mention electricity grids can be made far more efficient and less carbon-intensive with renewable while oil cannot. Not to mention, in the US alone, the amount of electricity used today by oil refineries was 1.6 - 2GWh. That's accounting for the production of 7.5 - 9kWh of electricity to refine a gallon of Petrol and 9,056,000 barrels produced in a day. Oil is utterly stupid!

  8. @SladkaPritomnost Lithium batteries last for over +10 years which is recommended by manufacturers, but even the earliest mobile phones with early staged lithium batteries (around 2001-2) are barely ten years old yet, so we're not sure. But what is certain is that Nickel-ion batteries have been proven to last over 14 years, car or phone alike, and they are guaranteed to have less battery life than Lithium.

  13. @Marauder252 That's great and all but those filters will need to be replaced in between 5 and 8 yrs but the CO2 emissions are 144 g/km and 5.5 liters per km to the USA markers thats one of a kind but in Europe and Japan it's mainly common and normal in almost any car of it's size. Cars like the Smart and Toyota IQ are on the leader boards.

  14. Capacity loss in batteries are not linear, it's typically projected a 90% capacity after 3 or 5 years, and 80% over a decade. By then, the batteries are still functional and do not to be replaced. The proof in the pudding would be old Prii and Prius taxis, or RAV4 EV drivers, whom of which owned these cars for over a decade now. They still drive these cars without problem. To clarify, for any EV like the LEAF, replacing a faulty module(s) is far cheaper than removing the whole battery.

  15. I think you may be referring to Telsa's issue with 'Bricking', whereas if a car was left discharged (0% percent) for over a month, the the whole pack would 'brick'. In few unfortunate cases, drivers cashed out $40,000, not $12,000, for a replacement. The problem was blamed on the early battery's chemistry by having Cobalt. Just drop this nonsense since Nissan, Ford, Mitsubishi, ect, doesn't offer a battery replacements. The likes of you only talked about it since TopGear falsely claimed it.

  16. I suggest you to get some real evidence. Firstly, car batteries do not die or need to be replaced 'after 6 or 7 years'. Pretty much all electric cars would have a 8 or 10 year drivetrain-battery warranty. And even if the warranty runs out, that doesn't mean the battery will fail instantly. Even if such a thing were to happen, manufacturers wouldn't replace the battery, the most efficient and cost effective way is to check each battery module and replace one or two if faulty.
