You can extrapolate that in the 70s, when modelling ancient earth climates begun to become popular with improved sampling techniques from ice, soil, air, rock and sea bed samples, that there was an evident dip in CO2 and "global cooling" following WWII. In the 70s, most people were far more concerned of the global oil embargo, running out of gas on the highway.

Before he capitalised on this base, the base not only had to grow from cringe beginnings like Tea Party party and Sara Palinists, the right (its arguments and propaganda) also had a "free coverage" on every news site including the BBC after it somehow became popular to be questioning a Muslim brother's and sister's humanity and "integration" among a minute, vocal crowd of antisemitic youtubers and other Talk Show pundits, Farage, etc. There is a money tree, a sour one that perfected climate denialism for the late 90s.
