But I'm more referring to our national policy wise - the heel-toe to Thatcher's neo-libertarian philosophy of outsourcing everything from public assets, labour, expertise to foreign investment. In the 80s as you may remember, we had a bout of new right wing economic populism of wealth, and our TDs and Councillors found it incredibly useful to sell off any of their public services and responsibility to the private sector. Running a less taxing social system was the lingo. And all this we still see rather than creating domestic jobs and enterprise (that's not retail and coffee shops), which a contemporary green new deal demands.

It also shouldn't distract from the fact that Ireland relies heavily on giving away its labour and its resources, we have very little tied-down indigenous industry that's not a large enterprise or MNC like the Beef industry or Tech industry. A little change and we're threatened with mass capital flight.
