  4. Seymore Bhutz Its true, US products aren't strong in Russian markets. They simply would just have higher tarrifs (and shipping costs). Although Tesla is popular in opinion there. And regard to this, its because Fiat owns Chrysler, and fiat since the 70s has had a long history with Lada. The old 124 Fiat was an exact basis for the classic Lada. The Russian car production is highly... adapted for Eurasian tastes. Lada only got an upgrade a few years ago from old Renault Nissan alliance tooling. Datsuns and Dacias are as popular as Ladas in the home country. Ladas only really sell to eurasian countries like Kazakhstan. Which don't have any other option than to buy from Russia. But I must agree, Japanese engineering is superior (Germans have excellent build quality and engineering, but awful reliability).
