There are less than 12,000 lucky people who own one of these.

Man, it's quite nice to look at this after watching the 2011 LEAF review. A lot has changed. EVs advance more like phones than petrol cars themselves.
65
Perfect for all of the so-Cal Basic B***es.
49
They should be stoopid to not call it and build it as a wagon. Wagons!
20
Lock yourself and the car in a garage, turn on the ignition and tell me what happens after taking a quick nap.
19
Nobody care to know about the KIA Ray EV? They've been making it for at least a decade now and totally unknown to the wider global market which would appreciate smaller, cheaper, more practical and more efficient electric cars.
16
This thing is still a HUMMER EV underneath, a monumental waste of material rescorces, time, money and an expense on the collective intelligence of people. An EV/PHEV light pickup truck is all that's needed, like the Ford Maverick that Toyota is too dumb build.
14
It's not hard to see who's target audienc is and why that's a definite example of market failure
10
Solid stuff, but she doesn't know enough Plug-in-Lingo. the electric motor fan And 82mpge is the EV efficiency. That is mixed with gas mpg into the instrumentations
10
I think you're gravely misunderstanding it all.

*Micha snaps fingers for I.D Buzz* oh no, he's hot

You can be fan of both and more. But the Camry and Prius are not and should never be competitors. That market assumption tragically limits choice that Americans are denied. The Corrola hybrid is a key mass car. It is sold as a station wagon estate in Europe and other markets, as a 2.0l too. The US missed out. Both Europe and the US don't get the Aqua what was the Prius C, cutting edge. The Sienta is a 7 seater small hybrid that actually seats 7. Like the 80s Honda Civic Wagon Every Toyota hybrid should be +4kWh
8
I hope the mid-life cycle refresh does something good for sales, because Prius sale numbers dropped by over 50% 2019 vs '18 following consecutive drop in sales since 2016. The plug-in Prius Prime however had a record January sale, holding up and making over 40% of all Prius sales. That should be a sign. The AWD-e has been in the snowiest parts of Japan since 2015 now and they do well in slush and ice (as do the AWD kei-cars), but nothing significant. Hopefully mid-America and the north-east/north-west where most car buyers prefer to buy Subarus would consider these - or else Toyota is on its big decline.

Battery pack has 2012* tech. What's missing is that a few months ago the 12kWh battery and 2.0l otto cycle engine were updated to a 13.8kWh and 2.5l atkinson pairing with a 10kW boost to both front and rear motors.
7
Goss - if I were you, I'd dig a bit deeper on that hyped and flawed Norwegian Oil study, which only based their findings on EVs being ~150kg heavier than counterparts. Brake wear is far less on vehicles with regenrative braking (got an '07 prius and the log book says it had its pads replaced 40,000 miles ago and still going strong). Tyre wear is going to depend too heavily on type.
7
What an awfully weird comment Cross. Quality contol, that's it's own discussion. Charge for charging, yeah I thought that was always known, only early-adopters and Model S and Xes in the past had free charging. But what's there to laugh at? I pay quite little for petrol, around €40 per month, that's not favourable personally - guess what car I drive. Any electric car driver would be spending far less than me.
7
There are literally millions of electric cars and owners out there, trust us when we say it doesn't happen. And when it does, it's a fucking scumbag, and a fucking scumbag would do a lot worse to your car.
7
1.2 turbo 3 cylinder sounds like they borrowed Citroen/Peugeot's engines
6
Finally! Now... if only Fiat would agree to build more than 450 units per month
6
@swanblake I hope you're truthful about that. Here in Europe, Mitsubishis are the go-to cars for farmers and other hard wearing drivers, and have been since the 90s. That reputation hasn't waned.
6
An EV version of this would be a dream come true.
6
Toyota has seriously hit a brick wall if they can't get out of the premium SUV madness
6
Oh, thought you were talking about Micha

5:41 will answer your question. The high cost for the EV range is due to the HSD drive train, which is more efficient than the Volt's. If you drive less than 11 miles a day and unable to access any form of public transport, then the Plug-In Prius is worth buying as it costs less than the Volt. If you drive around 40 miles, the Volt would be better, but if you drive well above 40 miles, then the Plug-In Prius would be more affordable compared to the Volt.
5
Nah. Orange all of the sudden is becoming the new black. At least that it's seen as exciting and exotic among newer cars like the i3 and GT86
4
Or fiesta
4
You're clever enough to get it! Well done!
4
Todd, I'm afraid that'll make me complicit, but neither will I stop you.
4
Or a Ford Fiesta or a Prius Ev
4
I can't but help remember the same music from the i-MiEV test drive video, from like 6 years ago!! It's so CHEERY!!

This Lobo trim spells desperation to gouge profit before**it hits the fan. Hasn't Ford not fixed their problem with not meeting up to the demand for the hybrid Maverick? The Maverick is the kind of vehicle most Americans want and need. Maddening why Toyota never bothered. Making an edition specifically targetted for the rich at a time of market and economic turmoil is going in the wrong direction yet again. The Maverick should be as affordable as possible in gas, hybrid (which is underproduced) and a sorely needed EV and PHEV which can be easily done. But given Ford's priorities to enrich executives and shareholders first, I have many doubts they'll see the error of their ways.
4
It was a rebadged Ford Escape hybrid for Mazda to qualify for CARB emissions legislation. They should've stuck with it.
4
Sure, quality and refinement has been a dark spot for Mitsu for ten years, but I'll fight anybody who'll suggest that a fecking Mazda skyactiv or-some-bollocks is more reliable than a Mitsu.
4
The car is exclusive, but some have managed to describe their experiences of it. In short the LC500h would be better if it was a practically ranged plugin without that complicated dual gearbox whose only purpose was to damped down any bemoaning and bitching over a "CVT". Whatever they were trying to achieve with the CVT doesn't work, largely because it's not even a CVT that's present in hybrids. What this is though drivetrain wise is a spoilt and over engineered hybrid that disrupts itself on how it operates while ultimately relying on a small capacity, non chargeable, 30-50bhp battery boost. Something Lexus puts out as a selling point. If only Lexus swallowed their pride and prejudice on plug-ins... If only they gave this commendable EV power, it would be a more effortless, hushed heavy hitter, instead what it is is overstrained and clunky on paper and in practice. And for what, responding to internet opinions of cvts?

2:11 Geeze, man! I thought that was the ELR's interior I was looking at.
3
+Michael Earll It's not 2011/12 anymore. They've been loosing money and competition on an old platform. For years they said they needed to prioritise on CUV and SUV platforms. Especially since they make the most sales in most markets.
3
Update! Change that to less than $23,000.
3
2.0l engine? 12kWh battery? That can't possibly be right, can it Micah? If it is, then this is the "previous" mid-fresh Outlander. The later one extends virtual battery capacity to 13.8kWh and the engine is bored out to 2.5l but with a hybrid-appropriate atkinson cycle.
3
Who would bother with a non-hybrid truck? Realistically, how many miles would a Raptor find itself off of paved and dirt roads?
3
Hybrid =/= Not a CVT
3
Questioning why all cars are expensive (luxurious or SUV) instead of blaming everything on EVs is a task too taxing on the average Yankistan brain.
3
Screaming Malaise pre-recession era
3
More giant crossovers with giant profit margins. The zombie economy is ready to burst. There will be no chance for these overgrown cars, and these are what the majority of car manufacturers built and completed toward .... 👀😬
3
Look at Mini and the Honda E. Or the BMW 1 series or Mercedes A class Fools think there's still a big enough market for wealthy spouses wanting "luxury personal vehicles" like the late 1970s While ignoring to overwhelming collapse of wider society and the vacuum of affordable cars that Chinese EVs are rushing to fill
3
There was nothing wrong with the dual rear windows, just extra visibility. Which the super long raked A pillar causes concerns for

@chito1312003 Someone's been driving hard through town perhaps?
3
Weird why they haven't thought of making a break/estate or a pickup/Ute version for that lucrative business tax market.
3
I'd like to see a KBB review of the e-NV200!
2
I'd be looking forward for the new version in next Spring. It's estimated that the new i-MiEV should have an MSRP of $25,000.
