  12. Well they have to ignore it. Any mutterings of it and a recession could cause an investor run, and bank runs etc. This is the Inescapable conundrum of capitalism. This is the market eating itself out. And ultimately, it has been the multi-industry wide culture of the maximisation of profit, rewarding profit and maximum return in dividends. The market players all rush at +100mph to make the better and more profitable car (be it ICE or EV) for more growth every quarter and at a point there's always a crisis when growth slows to a trickle and when projected profits aren't met. The only planning we see is the planning for profit, not the planning in making future cars for future needs. An oversupply of models. An oversaturation of too expensive models. A lack of variety of models if consumer demand change because that's what most of the competition competes for (crossovers) which also happens to make the healthiest profit margins. And without a doubt a change of the consumer themselves that the market may leave behind. Outside of company cars (which may well be help driving the trend), the base of new private car consumers is growing older and is shrinking. The automotive market both ICE and EV are abandoning new drivers basically. Especially when it's too expensive for a segment city cars or microcars. The Citroen C1, Peugeot 108 Toyota Aygo is discontinued for low profit margins. B class cars aren't considered profitable unless they're poshed up with features and entry price This is the market eating itself out.
