It is bs, but many MANY are conditioned to buy the game day one. That is what the gaming culture has manipulated many into to where it's standard. Be the first to get it, beat it and brag. It's been this way for over a decade now. The executives have gamers eating out of their hands despite how much they complain, they still will buy the games and spend extra. That's the sad truth of it. Puppet consumers.

@etaxalo Store front? You mean hit that digital sale before even released. There's a reason things are going digital and for every publisher and developer, they'll be locking people into a payment plan or increasing the price. We have the illusion of value and choice until things change on that front because they can manipulate the only options left. Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo are companies. They all follow in their own time, but none are our friends but many scramble to pick whoever looks friendliest and gives them small hope. It's amazing how religion is seen as primitive when our very nature is to herd under something/someone.

Those are weird additions, but believe me. Those won't be advantages for long if you've played FromSoftware games. In fact, I think those people will be getting ripped off after start of the game. Only thing I'd question is the weapon. It could be cosmetic or have a unique stat. Remember though, it's bizarre because FromSoftware isn't doing the remake.

@lilbladeknight I don't even factor in that stupidity lol! I'll watch a clip of a game to see the mechanics and gameplay and that's it. I'll watch a no commentary playthrough for certain games, yet I will never understanding watching others play as a...thing. People (or youth) are such drones now they'll zombie out watching someone talk the entire game, but I feel it's more to feel like they are a part of something rather than care about the game. Our psychology in society is ripe to be uprooted at any time.

@lilbladeknight I don't watch South Park, but they typically make shows about what is obvious yet no one wants to think about until put in front of you. It and other shows have also made...predictions, so there is more to it than just being aware. For as many that say they believe in evolution, they should have stopped the retardation of mankind. This only leads me to believe these "great minds" wanted this because the results of modern society depending and being pampered with luxury tech was clear. Most will only play games that are casual or require little more than good reflexes. Many can't read nor want to think critically. I've experienced this to a degree after playing casual games compared to strategy or games with text. It's bizarre. Many young people I know are the way you describe or them and those in their twenties show the same traits; my ex was definitely a victim because she rather watch games and said she hated to think or had difficulty thinking critically...that kind of closes a lot of roads lol

The big difference indeed. No one would complain, but the price doesn't match the value. I can see why Sony might want to increase the price given a good number of their games match it, but overall? No. It's case by case because less than ten exclusives or noteworthy 3rd party titles will be out in a cycle and worth that much. The rest are short, movie-like QTE games or unfinished games. Because Nintendo seems perpetually behind (yet fun) games, they should never touch $70 rationally. Microsoft can hide behind the subscription, yet even that will have to prove the games will be worth it when they come out and they have to plentiful and not scarce. Everyone liked Blockbuster, but you never rented every single movie, just the ones you want.

Because PC always wins. You said it right; they're competing with PC not the other way around. PC allows one to actually house games on every platform (games companies lose codes for), discounts are better, eliminates needing a sub from MS, boost graphics and speed through varied means. Stability is best off the bat on console yes, for most 3rd party games yet console exclusives are what make them stand out. For me and many, PC overrules bothering with XBox and only Sony or Nintendo become options for games you won't get on PC.

@thelitmango6333 Are you suggesting a phone is as unnecessary as a gaming console? Because I'm sure someone can 1) Own a phone for the basic use 2) Pay when they want without a contract or use wifi app. So you came up with the dumbest example before thinking on it a few seconds longer.

@ArtisChronicles You're forgetting people still bought the game after the fact AND paid for micro. The industry would need a renaissance or collapse to gaming in the 90s and graphics no longer a focus before people could stop. Too many are drawn in by hype and graphics foremost like addicts to control themselves. It's no longer genuine interest in a game, but a programmed method that produced the whales the industry preys on.

@fluidwolf Hardly. Demon's Souls was before the formula was perfected, so it's going to be better. Now I'd imagine they had consulting with the game mechanics from devs to get it right. I hope no one gets the Special Edition because it's a ripoff to sell those things that won't save you if you can't play. Especially if you die before spending. The weapon/accessories seem nice, but are they necessary? It does seem distasteful in such a series.

@wittyedge He doesn't need to buy it to say it's predatory. In fact, don't people make laws or boycott things they don't purchase because there is something wrong about it? I've played nearly all FromSoft games aside a number of Armored Core, but whoever decided they were going to charge for armor and weapons, giveaway souls in a series that never did such a thing is the wrong move. VaatiVidya, the Souls historian, said this himself. The game doesn't need you defending it with bad logic. The game is fine, the charging for something that won't be available later is not what the Souls community expected.

Who actually plays those old games for the entire time or half the time they have the system? It all sounds good, but then why are you upgrading to a new system in the first place? Why are you not just on PC if worried about value and games? It sounds good on paper until put into practice.

@blaziken38 There is value, but that's why I play them on PC (and more so if one is a buckaneer) or just plug in my old system lol! I'm not buying a new console to play old games. That's dumb. I said specifically in relation to buying a new system to play old games, not playing old games was bad. Read carefully next time.

@Dub Jubs MS has a foothold in PC market, yes, but they aren't the PC market. And you said it correctly. Microsoft loses nothing, but XBox division does and what I said specifically. You don't need an XBox compared to gaming on PC. They don't have any exclusives to hold the system, and everything they have is better priced and played on PC. I'm sure by now you know Sony is getting into the market buy releasing their exclusives on it. They've had studios under them release games on PC, so I think they'll be fine in that regard. Nintendo would need to think of something, while XBox still has to come up with games for all that value. As to date, no one is mentioning games, but the service plan.

@blaziken38 No, not at all. We're speaking from two perspectives and why it's not clicking. I've never had a Sony console break or get a ring of death, so I always can not bother with backwards compatibility. And then I don't seldom have to bother with them then as most those games are released on PC by this point in time, with the additional option of upgrading the graphics. XBox needs it because all their games are locked on old consoles aside the few AAA franchises they had. Why do I need a subscription when I can rip my old game data onto PC if I want to play an old game that bad? Who actually sells the old console if they are that hard off? Wouldn't they keep it as backup or they'd be playing on it? It's not going to resell for that much. Someone is stupid poor if they are selling what they can still use; I grew up poor and why I still have my old systems and games. Someone just needs to get smart, not new games and system lol

Have you? If we're talking about value not profits, we've just established GamePass, and whatever service they add being unnecessary. PCs are only as expensive as you want them to be. Given how much people spend on a console then games on release, you're just shy what an affordable PC will cost and last a number of years. People only upgrade hardcore because enthusiasts and have the money, not because it's necessary. I'm not rich and I bought a near $800 computer prior to new one and the volume of games you have to play on every platform that's existed, if your talking wanting old games to play? You'll be dead before finishing them.

@Dub Jubs More people have PCs than a game console, so the accessibility already exists. Anyone with money to spend on games has money to spend on a decent PC since one is clearly a luxury, not necessity. PC are close to a necessity in a digital age when people are indoors so much now. And I'm talking about prices for gaming PCs while even average PCs can still play a vast variety of games and emulate far more than any console. We aren't really talking about these parent companies in that regard. Sony isn't trying to monopolize in the first place. We are talking about the consoles, and Playstation division has more money in itself than XBox because of sales. Not talking about the parent company networth. Your proving the case that XBox really isn't a concern for even Microsoft, the GamePass is. Another way to provide a service platform through a subscription rather than offering games and contributing to gaming. Sony hasn't needed the gimmicks Nintendo has or alternatives, even if their ventures failed/gave up on because the games always kept them ahead. Now I'm not knocking Nintendo because they've stayed in the ring with even less, so the assumption Playstation is in some trouble is doubtful when Nintendo isn't even sweating.

You mean built into yours, not mine XD So I'm not forking over that money monthly when I have too much to play on PC as it is. What's not native, I emulate; DS, 3DS, PSX, PS2, PS3, PSP, and let's not get into the systems that don't even exist anymore and the foreign games they housed. You talk about value yet PC has more than anything Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo will ever have because it's so open. Like I said, most my gaming now is on PC and everything else is Playstation unless I want to play on something older or didn't emulate. I"m not talking hundreds of games, but thousands. My PC now cost around $1200, prior 400-500 less and was still able to play most on that. So one payment around those price ranges with thousands of games compared to a lifetime subscription to specific games under Microsoft. PC always has the advantage and partly where the arrogance PC gamers has comes from.

And here I am taking advantage of sales, using Amazon points and playing on PC majority of time. Rarely I'll buy a full price game just because I'm naturally a scrooge yet gaming isn't the same animal it once was. It's a beast milked by businessman.
