Agreed Richard, good call, but who would be setting the questions? Economists that restrict the state like mainstream, or MMT that shows the full polical spectrum of policies that the global framework can accommodate.
It should be the full spectrum and an understanding of how the global monatery system actually works.
Those that practice restricted neoliberal policies would throw everything they have not to let full teaching be applied.
I totally agree that this needs to be implemented for politicians. Also in schools as children should understand all political possibilities, as they are the ones that will be voting and keeping democracy alive.
There would be a new understanding what political parties are putting forward and full transparency in government.
This is exactly the change that is needed, the truth is not afraid of transparency.
Adam Smith himself, while rejecting state intervention in the market, never went as far as suggesting that the state had no role to play. On the contrary, the purpose of Smith's analysis of the economic system was to define the proper role of state :According to the system of natural liberty, the sovereign has only three duties to attend to ; three duties of great importance, indeed, but PLAIN AND INTELLIGIBLE TO COMMON UNDERSTANDING : first, the duty of protecting society from violence and invasion of other independent societies.
Secondly, the duty of protecting, as far as possible, EVERY member of society from the injustice or oppression of every other member of it, or the duty of establishing an exact administration of justice.
Thirdly, the duty of erecting and maintaining certain PUBLIC work and certain PUBLIC institutions, which it can never be the interest of any individual, or small number of individuals, to erect and maintain.
Capitalism only triumphs when it becomes identified with the state when it is the state.
This is not the political case today.
