Actually you are wrong about the Dresden raid. It wasn't, as Nazi apologists claimed after the war, an attack on a non-military target designed simply to kill civilians for no good reason. Firstly, far from being a neutral target, the City was a centre of the production of armaments. It was also a major transport hub for German troops transferring to the Russian Front. Secondly, Churchill was under pressure from Stalin to bomb the city to ease the pressure on Russian divisions near to Dresden. Arthur Harris, Head of RAF Bomber Command, is often blamed for the bombing of Dresden, but he was ordered to do so by Churchill, and the Chief of the Air Staff, Marshal of the RAF Sir Charles Portal. And thirdly, in their rush to blame Britain alone for the bombing, everybody conveniently forgets that the Americans also bombed Dresden. Finally, you talk in emotive terms of the firebombing of the city. What about the fire bombings of Coventry, Clydebank, Liverpool, London, etc.? The Luftwaffe also used incendiary bombs well as high explosives. It wasn't just the allies.
