Yes, they most definitely suffered. Look at the photos online of the bodies of the hanged. It is clear that they did not die easily. In an interview after the executions hangman US Staff Sargeant John C Woods admitted he had deliberately caused the condemned to suffer.

He was NOT tied to a stake. Why do the commentaries of this particular film series make so many fundamental mistakes?

@sturgis48 Most Germans were not members of the Nazi Party, true. And many did not support Hitler, or the Nazi Party, although they were careful not to say so in public, since defeatist talk carried the death penalty. But these teenagers were fanatical members of the Waffen SS. They were devoted to the Fuhrer.

The Einsatzgruppen operated under the Sicherheidtsdienst, (a sub-department of the SS), the abbreviation of which was SD. The SD headed by Obergruppenfuhrer Reinhardt Heydricht.

@ileanaacacostaacosta1813 The Einsatzgruppen were all SS(SD) but they sometimes "sub-contracted" some of the executions to local police units.

No, no, no, the camp on Alderney was NOT the only concentration camp on British soil. There were two concentration camps in Scotland during WW2, where Polish Jews were murdered. But not by the Germans. Why were the Scots allowed to get away with such a crime? Do some research.

@Dirleberger What about the British? Weren't they scum too?

Here we go again...they were not like the Nazi concentration camps of WW2, which were built with the express intention of killing the inmates. The concentration camps in the Boer War were intended simply to keep the Boer civilians in confinement to prevent them from giving support and succour to their armed combatants in the field, thus weakening their fighting ability against the British. It was not a deliberate policy of the British Government to kill those civilians. Unfortunately deaths occurred in the camps due to incompetent planning, food supply problems, the spread of disease etc. What happened in the Nazi concentration camps was deliberate murder.
