  6. Wrong. The LRDG began in the 1930s as an amateur bunch of reconnaissance enthusiasts in the North African deserts. When WW2 started the Group was formalised as a "behind the lines" unit capitalising on it's expertise in reconnaissance. They were not intended to be, nor were they used as, a fighting unit. It was not the "spark" that started the SAS. The SAS were created in 1941 specifically as a fighting unit, by David Stirling, a Scots Guards Officer. The initial aim was that the SAS would attack and destroy enemy planes at Luftwaffe airfields in Libya. Before the SAS were able to acquire transport of their own, the LRDG initially provided a sort of taxi service to the SAS, transporting them in their vehicles to the airfields and back to their desert hide outs. The LRDG were under strict orders from Army HQ in Cairo to avoid contact with the enemy if at all possible. Eventually, David Stirling was able to acquire for the SAS transport of their own, and the LRDG returned solely to reconnaissance duties, monitoring the locations and movements of Afrikakorps troops and vehicles and passing the information to Cairo.

Apparently it was OK if the Germans killed civilians, but not if the British did it.

They are separate special forces units. 22 SAS is an army regiment primarily tasked with land-based operations, whereas the Special Boat Service is the Royal Navy's special forces unit. Until a few years ago they had separate selection courses. But now both SAS and SBS candidates go through "Special Forces" selection, which lasts 6 months. At the end of that period, successful SAS candidates are "badged". But SBS candidates who have passed this SF course, still have a further few months of training to complete, this time in amphibious warfare, before they can be "badged" as "swimmer/canoeists " in the SBS. Given that in the first 6 months of training, however, the SBS have undergone the same selection process as the SAS, they are sometimes sent on land-based operations alongside their their SAS colleagues. That is why the SBS were deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan alongside the SAS.

And thirdly, in their rush to blame Britain alone for the bombing, everybody conveniently forgets that the Americans also bombed Dresden. Finally, you talk in emotive terms of the firebombing of the city. What about the fire bombings of Coventry, Clydebank, Liverpool, London, etc.? The Luftwaffe also used incendiary bombs well as high explosives. It wasn't just the allies.

To provide a named successor to the President should they die in office, either through natural causes or assassination. It is vital that the government continues without pause. The alternative would be political chaos. A government without a head of state. When President Kennedy was assassinated on 22 November 1963 in Dallas, his successor, Lyndon Johnson, was sworn in as President on board Airforce One within an hour of the official confirmation of Kennedy's death.

While it was originally the case that the SAS and the SBS each had their own separate and distinct selection courses, nowadays candidates for both SAS and SBS go through the same initial 6 months "Special Forces" selection course. At the end of that course, successful SAS candidates are "badged". SBS candidates, however, still have a further period of several months training, this time in amphibious warfare before, if successful, becoming "swimmer/canoeists " in the SBS. So SBS candidates have already undergone the land-based training that their SAS colleagues have also been through, (including High Altitude High Opening and High Altitude Low Opening Parachuting and jungle training) before going on to hone their sea-borne skills. The SBS were in action in Iraq and Afghanistan alongside their SAS colleagues. As one SBS warrior put it - "We can do anything the SAS can do AND walk on water.".
