It got better, atleast they are making 490hp...vs.460 with the LT1. If you are talking about DOHC European/JDM brands....they don't Make Nearly as much Torque, and are actually Less eff. Hp/Gal burnt than OHv engines BSFC. (I'm not talking MPG). Also DOHC engines are Much more expensive$ , much larger/heavier for the same displacement. This is why they are Always Smaller in displacement vs. their OHV competition. Each type of engine has PROS/ CONS. Real questions that prove you wrong are, 1.What 490hp Sportscar cost $60k to start? 2. Better yet, list a $60k Sportscar.... I bet their Hp rating is "PISS POOR/ A FK'in Joke" compared to the C8's. M3 cost $20k More for less power and performance and the BIGGEST Joke of all is the 911 Carrera which base price costs $97,400 for ONLY 379hp... that's less than a (2000) C5 Z06's HP Rating of 385hp.

Base Porsche boxter/ Cayman would be it's Main competition in the mid-engine market. Both have: Mid-engines... of course Porsche is available with a PDK, C8 has a DCT Very close in base price: $59,600 for the Boxter/ $57,500 Cayman and $58,900 for the Stingray Corvette of course has alot more power/performance for the money 495hp vs. 300hp, 0-60mph 2.9-3.1s C8 vs. 4.7s for a Boxter w/PDK/4.9 Cayman w/ PDK. FYI, The boxter, Toyota MR2 are the other mid-engines cars <$100k that were sold in the USA in the last 15 yrs.. Fiero died in 1988 "before you were born"...LOL;-)

Complaining about the red-line? You are car guys, right? OHV is all about the torque, not Revs. You give up 500<1,000 rpms for better efficiency, 145hp/ 161 ft-lbs. of torque.

Not a Supercar because it's NOT OUT, Doesn't exist...yet. A Pruis would Beat it right now in a drag race as the Roadster wouldn't show up... Forfeit.

@supremebeing7834 Atleast you know what you like and aren't interested as much in max performance as you are in luxury/ nibble handling. Hope you get one and post about it when you do. When I got out of automotive school I had a choice, Mercedes, BMW or Porsche for FREE complete Factory training. I was interested in Porsche, but the interviewer was a D*ck and Most of them are sold in Florida or California and I wanted to go back to NJ. I could have went with Benz, but back then they were much for handling/racing and I new there were More BMWs sold in the Tri-state area...Job Security won out.

Slow?? It's quicker than a Gallado Superleggera or Murcielago to 0-60mph. Redline has to be For the Price...Nothing Comes Close. You have to spend $100k+ for a Nissan GTR. The Redline is because it is a Big OHV engine....doesn't need to rev to make power. The Only similar sized Normally Aspirated V8 was the AMG 63's w156 engine. It had 503hp/469 lb-ft and redlined at 7,000prms, only 500rpms lower. Each engine design has PROS & CONS. Size / Weight - Pushrod engines of the same displacement are MUCH Lighter and in a Smaller package. Price - The Smaller DOHC engine that makes the same HP would Always have less Torque if they are both Normally aspirated, also the DOHC would cost more to maintain/repair and More Expensive to build. 490hp Base C8 Stingray cost as much as a 300hp I-4 turbo Porsche Cayman or Boxster.

@nemanjadraca4012 I obviously you have never read any test reviews " BY Magazines/ Professional Reviewers",on the Models I've mentioned. I'm Not talking about JOE-SMO, Mister Nobody on youtube. Magazines/Professionals use "Test equipment" to get FACTS not Impressions. I can send you links to a dozen reviews that Prove my Point. I am happy to Teach those that don't know about cars/models what the Facts are.

I Totally agree the rear Look is a TOTAL FAIL!!! Who ever signed off on that should be Fired. If it had a Rear that looked more like the C7 or even C6...It WILL sell 25% more units. I'd Just Get a rear Fascia from a C7 from a junk yard and Make a Carbon fiber one to fit this anyway and Sell the stock one online.

True, since this is as quick to 60mph as a Lamboghini Gallardo Superleggera 0-60mph and MUch quicker than the AWD Murcielago.

So TRUE, Cup holders, visor tests, cargo volume and Door Opening mechanics...HAVE ZERO to do with what is/ isn't a supercar. The world got stupid with the hybrid cars and forgot what a supercar is. C7 Z06 - Is a Supercar 2017 Viper SRT and especially ACR - are BOTH Supercars More so than any AMG , BMW, Nissan GTR,... ACR More than Any Ferrari < Lambo or the McLaren 720s.

As for the power, No worries, Hennessey, Lingenfelter and others will have 1,000hp twin turbo kits for this within a year. But I would Always get the Z51 packages if anything for the magna ride shocks/wider rims.

It's the trim level... Base 1LT is $58,900 2LT starts @ $67,295 3LT (which this must be) - $71,945 to start. +$995 for the engine dress up package +$1,495 for those rims +$1,195 for the exhaust +$395 for the Tan leather seat option Don't know of the other options..I didn't see many more and it came to $75,630... Their $81K price must be with tax included.

@niceshot4563 LMFAO, Of course it matters Who started the Fade. It would be Like Saying it doesn't matter that the Lambo Muira is considered the First supercar or Benz making the 1St car. It always takes Balls to be the First. If it wasn't Copied by everyone else then it wouldn't have matter.... Just like How Cadillac was the 1st to Use Magnetic ride/shocks as Delphi then a GM company invented it. It's the same with how the USA land on the Moon and No one else ever did.... 350hp/309 lb-ft vs. 495hp/470 lb-ft for the same price. And the Corvette is over 1 sec quicker 0-60mph.

You have to get the Base GT500, The Track model, you Lose the rear seats, like with the ZL-1 1LE. Fastest/ 4 seater plus is the Redeye.

What Model Ferrari are you talking about? Doesn't look ANYTHING like a 488 or Old 458.

I'd take that too, but if it had to be a 2 seater, I'd get a last Gen T/A 1.0 or 2.0 Viper.

495 hp... Not 475hp. It's Only competition in this price range Only has 300hp Turbo I-4 in the Boxter/Cayman...and that only if you don't get that many options. I think they were correct about the rear profile looking bad...BUT the competitors would be the only ones to see it.

@julio1982 LOL, McLarens don't look ANYTHING like the C8 Corvette. the 570s, 650, 7675LT, 720s All, LOOK COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. If you believe so.... send me a par of links.

@julio1982 Actually it's the Original that all the others copied, except for the mid/rear engine...which was ALL Porsche. GM Owned Delphi which made the MAGentic shocks that EVERYONE USES. FYI, The McLaren F1 and Bugatti Veyron wasn't the Fastest Production car, The 1988 Chevy/Callaway Sledgehammer was the record holder at 254.76 mph. The internet is FULL of Fake history/news, Just like christopher columbus, as he NEVER made it to America, and The Vikings Where in Massachusetts 50yrs before he was even born. Also McLaren didn't make a street car until 1993, 108yrs after Chevy started making cars.

True, The Corvette Team has been doing bad work compared to the Camaro team. If Only the Camaro team would FK'in listen to the customers of the last 40 YEARS and fix the rear vision out of the car.... Like WTF?!?

The Trans is Made By Tremec....which has had great reliability. I think the fit and little things are were Chevy/corvette has issues. They have never had the engine issues that the 335i/535i BMWs had the 1st 2yrs they came out. My dealership had to buy back so many do to chronic engine problems.

Old Boxsters and Mr2's are the other Mid engine cars other than Fiero's for <$100k.

Hopefully, GM realizes 600 TQ is more than enough and starts going turbo'd again...As they were the 1st Brand to release a turbo model to the public... years before Porsche.

Corvette has the performance /$, but more importantly it's easy/cheap to maintain compared to a Porsche.

You can get a NEW Cayman or Boxster for this "Base" Price. Just that you get 195hp Less and 1.8sec slower 0-60mph.

@supremebeing7834 The higher end Cayman/Boxsters are still ALOT Slower. You must be talking about a $100k 911 model... it would have to be 5<6 years old high mileage one before it's close to the C8's Base New price. And the repair costs $$$$, the engine has to come out to basically due anything to it (Big Labor cost).

I would like to get 1 of the Last RSR 1970's 911's and mod it with current twin turbos.":-) Yes I am CRAZY, Pushed a 911 turbo out of the left( Cruising) with my '93 Dakota 5.2L. It took me 3 times Me running up his ass in the Left lane at midnight for his "Small Balls" realized... get THE FCK Over or spin out. I cruised at 100<120mph in my Gen1 Dakota for 50 miles. Woodbridge NJ #13 to PA turnpike in 25 mins.

Actually Corvette sales for the C7, were very bad last year... You would see more Superchargered hemi Challengers or Chargers on the Road than a C7 corvette.

@thewedge8823 Time will tell if this sells or Not and For how Long. Corvette hasn't sold many for years.... AKA, Rare to see them on the road. GM was Dumb enough to change the Buick Grand National even though they were selling like Crazy... A good example how Poorly they are ran and why they are having the Problems they are.... Camaro not selling, Siverado/Sierra pickups Not sell, last corvette Not selling...etc. Only car company doing worse is Nissan.

Does 0-60mh in 2.8 sec and the 1/4 mile in 11.2@122mph. That is More of than a Competion for a 2020 911 carrera, or a Nissan GTR...for ALOT Less money.

True the early C7 Z06's were Poorly designed and over heated. Sadly the Camaro team did a MUCH better Job and the 2 teams never collaborated. C6 corvette handled Great but the C7 was JUNK. C6 Zr-1 with less power would CRUSH a C7 Z06 if it had the same aero-kit.

They always release the base models first, their bread and butter. Everyone is calling it a supercar because of it's 0-60 times/ 1/4 mile times, DCT/mid engine layout. The main thing that isn't supercar, is the price.

All Non-Z51 models have Michelin Pilot sport All-Season 4 tires. Z51 gets the sticker Pilot Sport 4S tires that raises the lateral grip from 1.00 g to 1.03<1.0-5G's.

LOL, We are talking NEW, with a warranty. BMW's drop in price because they are JUNK....I Know Retired-BMW Master Tech. Also Price drop so fast because of the repair cost or NO-One wants them.
