This was the first european car that actually GAINED power in US. SPec. Government says 478hp @ 7,000 , 425 lb-ft...but magazines got high 11s< 12.1@122 mph and said it actually made about 500hp.

@AYE OK SURE HEY DUMB FUCK. 93 Octane.... a calculation of RON+MON/2 is how the US rates fuel. Learn some shit before you talk shit. Sunoco 93 Pump gas is 98 RON/88 MON. https://www.flatout.com.br/what-are-the-differences-between-euro-spec-and-us-spec-ferrari-f40/ https://www.supercars.net/blog/1990-ferrari-f40-us-spec/ - "In meeting the strict emissions regulations, the F40 was equipped with metal catalytic converters which necessitated new cam timing and Weber-Marelli electronic management. To deal with the heat of the catalytic converters, exhuast cooling injection was fitted as well as large heat screens that protected the large lexan engine cover. In total all the new systems in the F40 added around 115 kgs (250 lbs) of weight to the car. To make up for the increased bulk, Ferrari modified the engine to produce 515 bhp." Road & track dyno'd BOTH and the USA made MUCH more. I guess your "JANITOR" Uncle wasn't the guy working on the fuel/mapping.... SO unless you have a like to proof, GTFOH. OR Shut ye geggie,....Numpty/Roaster/Dobber or whatever Slag you are use to...as you must hear it ALOT.

Actually 478hp was the rating when sold in the USA (Which has mainly been the top buyers of Ferraris by a Large margin). Actually dyno tests have the US. Spec cars making 500<505hp to the crank.

LOL, Fiat controlled the production car branch of Ferrari since 1969, Enzo Ferrari wanted the control of the Racing division. So this was actually a Fiat..like the lambo Diablo was a Chrysler.

866infernus.... Muria had Zero perfromanace COMPARED TO THE f40 OR 959...EVEN LESS WHEN IT CANE TO DESIGN/HANDLING. It's liek the Pontiac GTO...that got the "CLAIM" of 1st Muscle car...when Muscle cars were made 20+yrs before the 64 GTO.

"JerseyMikeP im not talking about performance but ok"...???? This Video is about the F40 and within the 1st 5 sec SUPERCARS in big letters pops up. Supercars are about one thing, Perfromance - Mainly acceleration, HP and top speed. Handling vs. drag times usually depends on the Brand and what they were out to do. Example are Veyron/ Koenigseggs (excluding the 1:1) have big HP and top speed and aren't fast on a track.
2
It ALL depends on what you consider a SUPERCAR, It doesn't have to be a mid-engine to be a Supercar. The 1st Muira wouldn't keep up with american musclecars in a straight-line..."0<100kkph in 6.7s" from Lamborghini's website. ( https://www.lamborghini.com/en-en/brand/masterpieces/miura ) Also it would definitely get lapped by a Shelby Cobra or a Grandsport Corvette from the 1960s on a track. And it's 280kph top speed record only lasted 1 yr, the car that had it for the 2 yrs before it was the Shelby 427 Cobra roadster. Not sure how many/info any Shelby Daytona Coupes (the car that 1st beat ferrari in the World sportcar championship) were made All these New cars that are Jokingly called "Hypercars" that aren't as impressive as "Supercars". As for your question....a 550 Porsche spider was a midship sportscar that had supercar performance back in 1953<56, But the Shelby Daytona Coupe beats the Muira in all performance category and was made in 64<65', before the Muira.

866Inernus, "youre literally comparing a 1980s supercar to a 1960s supercar, what?? saying the 1980s f40 will beat it ummm no shit"... LMFAO, Like I said OVER a WEEK AGO....This is an F40 Video so of course I would mention it in my comment. And People compare cars of different years ALL the time. Mclaren F1 did 231mph 25yrs ago and people still compare NEW cars to it all the time. And yes...It ONLY held the speed record for 1 year, it got it by beating a "Open Roadster" in the 427 S/C Cobra, Miura was NO competition in any form to the 1965 Shebly Daytona Coupe. It's Not like it held it for 11 yrs like an F1 McLaren. Dodge Daytona was made in 1969 and did 180mph with the street Hemi.

NOT the 1st with "composite body panels", That was the the 1953 Corvette. Also CUTE they copied the 1969 Dodge Daytona Wing...later Copied by the B5 Supra.

@alessandrob8507 Go Fuck yourself if you can't handle the TRUTH. Dodge daytona was built in 1969....20 yrs before the F40. Do some FK'in research as you are only making yourself looks stupid. GM was the first brand to use turbochargers also....NOT the europeans.
2
YOu forgot to mention in racing the f40 driven by owners actually beat the new McLaren F1s.
2
LOL...Not over-rated at all. You have to remember this was when 13sec in the 1/4 mile was fast..this ran 11s. And this would rape everything on a track. Even beating McLarens years later in racing. Nissan GTR is the most over-rated car ever, FYI.

Funny how Ferrari out sourced the body shapes (Pininfarina)??? They couldn't design their own? Seems like they do that alot, having body shapes made by out sourced companies...almost like Ford going to Multimatic to have the Ford GT built. While British brands outsourced engines.
2
Tires/transmissions/EFIs are the biggest advantages of today..with those it would out run a 488GTB.

It's funny how Many GREAT cars we have because Enzo Ferrari was such an Asshole;-) Lamborghini Pangani Ford GT40

LOL, Porsche is PRONOUNCED "PORSCHA".

@n0hav0cyet Never heard that they switched the fuel tanks...have to look into that. I think Road & track issue when the F40 came out said the Added power was due to a different air/fuel mapping to meet emissions.
