But with the V6...Performance is lacking like an OVER-priced FERRARI Street Model. And that's what the Ford fanboys are missing. A Less powerful ACR Viper would easily out run it on the track if it had a DCT transmission...maybe even the 100 more horses 750hp ZR-1.

  4. YessBMX, The Zr-1 is MORE than a Match for the Ford GT...FACT! 0-60 and quarter mile the Zr-1 is quicker. Actually the Z06 automatic within 1 car length. The Ford GT does have a "Claimed" top speed of 216 vs. Video verified of 212mph for the Zr-1. The Zr-1 already beat the Ford GT on the track at VIR and ran almost Identical 1:23.69 vs. 1:23.70 time at Willow. $450k vs. $120k...Zr-1 wins there.

T/A 2.0 must have been to much for too little $$$ as Motor trend were too much of little B*tches to test one. ACR ( SHIT !!! ) on the same power/sAME hp/ SAME TRACK TIRE competition from corvette. Chevy sell more Z71s than Ford does RAPTORs. * The C7 ZR-1 is it's Competition , for 1/3 rd the price....and Chevy Didn't Need Someone Else to Build it. * WRC is A European / Asian Market thing , it's the same with Why there isn't Any European Brands in Nascar, NHRA Or CORR Off-Road Racing. * Formula Series .... Chevy was (not Sure if They Still Do) a Major Engine Supplier for the IRL for Years.

  27. Actually The camaro has had more years were it out performed the Mustang than vise versa...especially late 90's< present. using regular production models. Only Fast fords were liimited models or shebly's. Gt's been the Camaro's whipping boy for most of it's life.

It runs the same 1/4 mile times. So the Zr-1 is more than it's equal. Only in top speed does the GT have a 4 mph advantage...BUT for $320k MORE. You could get a Zr-1 and a 911 GT2RS for the price of a GT. Also Chevy likes selling specialty models for a few years and not just 1<2 like ford...which probably doesn't make Financial sense.

  31. Problem with the Viper is they didn't make a lower/v8 powered model. Or offered an automatic. 75% of corvettes sold are base models with automatics. Even Z06s have most of them being built with autos. Viper ended as the chassis couldn't fit the mandatory side airbags and FCA wouldn't spend the money to redesign it for such a low production model.

  38. You do know race models and street models are VERY different. Lemans Z06s are limited to All motor 490hp 5.5ltr v8s vs. the Supercharger 650hp 6.2ltr v8s in the street models. The New Zr-1 easily broke the Production Ford GT track record at VIR...and runs the same 1/4 mile time for $320k less. Very little of race results apply to street cars. especially with ferraris.

  40. In NO WAY is the Mustang GT built to compete with a Stingray. It's Rival is the Camaro SS...which the camaro wins in races upto 120mph or 1/4 mile. Perfromance and Price wise...You could say the GT350R's Rival is the Corvette Grand Sport.....the Z06 is WAY out of the GT350r's League. This Zr-1 would have been Rivals with the ACR Viper if it wasn't cancelled...and SRT gave it 100 extra HP.

  56. To me, Both don't have any real function...neither does a ACR Viper. But they are great weekend cars. Zr-1 is probably cheaper to insure. I agree the Camaro is a Way better car for the money/performance than a Mustang GT. Not saying I hate the mustang, just ford took a step back with making it heavier and raising the price so much. Fact is ford ONLY built 137 Ford GTs in 2017, Chevy made over 33,000 corvettes....there is No competition there. With Fords power/looks improvement with the mustang they didn't loose sales, as for Chevy they have been losing Ground to the Challenger (12,000 unit lead in the last 3 yrs) and are about to be out sold by them in the next 2 yrs. EVeryone has been complaining about Camaro rear visibility for 30 yrs and GM has done nothing. Sad GM Never did anything about it.......Even though the car got lighter/faster/stiffer better looking.....Buyers keep seeing that negative in all Camaro reviews.

Frank, I definitely think GM shifted their focus on track models...which I think was a smart Ideal as their engines even the LT5 can't compete with the aged Hellcat engine on power and SRT isn't using making a track pony car. Also since the GT500s been gone for so long they see a void to be filled, which works. Ford did get off their ass with the current f-series platform and 5.0L coyote engines. Before then the last 10+yrs were a joke. I was a Ford factory certified tech back when they 5.0l and 7.3L were going and the 4.6l and 6.0s were coming and those were dark days:-( 7.3L was a great diesel, the 5.0 windsor was actually an over-rated engine...but because off unlimited aftermarket support it wasn't bad to have. I love cars too much to let them sit...so even a nice old ford GT would be a good investment for me. Twin turbo and same tires on the old car and it would embarress the new one.

I do agree for the money if buying new, the 1LE camaros from chevy are the best bet it the 335hp v6, SS V8 or the Zl-1. Zl-1 even with the 400lbs of extra weight out ran (Spanked) the Grand sport which is $90+k.

Within 0.01 Seconds of each other at willow springs and that is a fast track with almost no tight turns. Asfor Drag racing the GT is the Quicker Car.

The big thing with the Old TVR's was thast most of them were SUPER-Light.. <2,350 lbs... 1,000 lbs lighter than aC4 corvette. It's like putting a TVR against one of Radical's Cars.

  88. GT isn't the competition for the Vette. 90% of vettes sold are <$75k and 460hp. The C7 Zr-1 is the Corvette "MODEL" that is the GT's Competition...Not ALL Corvettes. Corvettes don't pick on Mustangs...it's the Mustang owners that think it's bad enough to take on a corvette. Mustang is against, Camaros and Challenger.. which one depends on which/what type Mustang.

  91. Top off the line mustang has been the GT, Doesn't even beat a camaro. You are probably talking about limited production mustangs that aren't produced every year (which is what he's talking about). Also the Top Mustang has NO chance against a Z06 or ZR-1.....which he's ALSO talking about.

  98. The New Zr-1 runs the same 1/4 mile time, OUTRUNS the GT on the track (NEW VIR record) and costs $320k less. If you beat Supercars...than you are a supercar. Chevys Supercar is more than a match for fords (multimatic's) limited model.

  105. Chevy Doesn't need to, Nor would they have someone else build a Car like the Ford GT for them like Ford did/does. If you think the last GT500 was ANY competition for a corvette...you don't know the difference between a Sports car and a pony/muscle car. Gt500 was competition for the Zl-1 and Hellcats. Also the Last GT500 was that great on a road course, like all of the previous High HP Ponycar models. GT350R was built to compete with the last Z/28...and the GT350 has trouble with the Much less powerful/Much Cheaper Camaro SS 1LE.

  107. The Gt350r is Nice...but considering they were going for what a Z06 costs...NOT the MSRP..it's still not much competition. The regular GT350 got spanked by the SS 1LE in Motor trend testing.(also had the oiling issue when on the track, customers sued). Said thing is FORD only makes these limited/rare cars that can perform...they don't make any models that do that are out year after year. ANd with Ford racing the prices, they are getting less impressive. Mustangs always had the light weight and low cost going for them and now they are heavier and more expensive than the more camaro...Not good.

  109. LOL, Charger? Ford doesn't even make a large sport sedan. The Chevy Impala is marketed/in the same class as a Charger but it's FWD. A BMW 5-series, Audi A6 or a Benz E-class Sedans.
