  1. Being a Mechanic ( @ a Car dealership) is the low man on the tradesman totem pole. Flat rate, warranty work and job favortism in the dealership has made becoming a Mechanic unappealing. Have to work 60hrs to make 40hrs on alot of warranty jobs. The Good paying jobs are given to the Team leaders or Service writers " Friends ". It is Much easier making money being an Electrician or Plumber. Not to mention the fact that it's the only trade ( that I know of) where you HAVE TO, purchase your own tools. Plumbers and Electricians that I know don't have to.
