@adamlangton1967 People aren't being kicked out of the country for not speaking the language although it should be incumbent on a younger immigrant (not elderly) to learn the language of a new country not least for one's own integration. But that's besides the point. The person was here illegally and therefore, if found, should be deported. If you don't remove such people, it damages legal immigration which people work very hard for by obtaining degrees, high paid work, or by investing.

@adamlangton1967 The comments on a NowThis video? Forgive me if I don't believe that they're in a bubble of people who believe in street justice over rule of law. So according to you, if someone comes to a country without authorization, slips through the cracks and stays for an extended period of time, they become an established member of the community? Once again I ask you, is there any point of immigration laws at all? Why should anyone immigrate legally as many do and go through all the trouble? I too am a legal immigrant of the same nationality as him. (and he has falsely claimed asylum, which is a joke but another point altogether). And if you say no immigration and just assimilation, what part of assimilation is not learning the language in 10 years. He's not 70 years old, he's probably 40 at a maximum.

@adamlangton1967 Pointing fingers at modern Brits and Americans specifically while living in Canada benefitting from past colonialism is pointless. If you are going to do so, you should chastise yourself.
