The car tariff is probably not going to go anywhere speaking as an Indian. It is on ALL foreign cars to encourage the public to buy Indian made cars or at least Indian assembled foreign brands. I can't see India making a one-off exception for the UK on this. India is changing gradually but they still have a very protectionist mindset embedded in all systems and they are suspicious of any foreign company gaining dominance. Additionally, they're not that respectful of patents and even their own patents because people in the system seem to view patents as a monopoly law designed to keep competition low and prices high. So while I wish some things change, I know that there are many practical problems.
