My only question to people in the comments is this, if England became an independent country, what would be the nationality of its foreign origin residents? Presently, it is British. Would the new nationality be "English"? Being White English is an ethnic identity for sure (by the way which Irishmen like Piers Morgan claim to have) but English should be accepted as a nationality as well. Foreign origin immigrants to Scotland are usually happy to call themselves Scottish but immigrants to England are not and prefer "British". There needs to be some thought about this.

@dungcheeseMORK999 I think English ethnic identity should be celebrated. St George's day should be given a holiday in England. However, it is well known that foreign-origin citizens see themselves largely as British and not English even though they have lived in England. This sort of discussion is fair enough considering English identity has been suppressed but if you espouse the view that being English can only be done by those who are White English, you have yourselves a problem.

@the_forbinproject2777 Surely there's plenty of Celtic DNA and Norman French DNA too. But it doesn't really answer my initial point.
