  1. Disagree, suppose they were indeed going to crack down, if your actions are bad, the crack down could be even worse than anticipated. In Hong Kong, the government was going to crackdown on freedoms anyway, gradually. The protests and riots in the city gave them the excuse to go full authoritarian with the new national security law which ended up being worse than most commentators had anticipated.
