  1. Most train drivers are on around £60k for a 4 day week in a job that doesn’t require a degree….they are probably the least deserving of a pay rise in any industry. Plus, any rise given will either be paid for by the rail user via tickets or the taxpayer via subsidy.

  2. How would that help? The rail staff would still be highly overpaid and the rot in the university sector started under Blair.

  3. Average wage for a guard is £30-£35k….that’s more than the starting wage for nurses and rail staff don’t need a degree. They are not poorly paid at all.

  4.  @huwzebediahthomas9193 rail staff are very well paid for what they do….the only ‘bastards’ are the RMT/ASLEF.
