Look the mess Labour has made of the NHS in Wales, it’s just as bad if not worse than England.

@bereal6590 the Welsh parliament does have some tax raising powers including income tax - they haven’t used them to raise any money. The size of the population has nothing to with it - spending per head is 20% higher than England.

Labour run NHS in Wales is on its knees as much as it is in England, and SNP run Scotland. No party has a credible record at the moment.

@andrewroberts826 the bulk comes from central government but Labour chooses how to spend it and has chosen not to use its powers to raise taxes. If they don’t think there’s enough money, why choose not to raise it yourself? Either way, public spending per head is 20% higher in Wales than England due to the Barnett formula so it’s a cop out to just blame Westminster.

@MCDONALD6969 because that would be too logical! The real issue is the structure and scope of the NHS but no politician will go there, much easier to just should about numbers.

@MCDONALD6969 indeed. The NHS model, set up in the 1940s, was barely sustainable then and certainly isn’t today. It would be much improved if it did less but did it better, alongside significant social care reform. Problem is nobody will pay for it and people view the issue through the prism of emotion, not logic.
