If a person commits a crime and gains a large sum of money and purchases a house and tries to raise a family in that house, if the person is found guilty the house will be impounded and that family will have to leave the house. In the same sense of illegal immigration, if a parent commits a crime, the children do not get to enjoy the benefits of the parents crime

  2. No, I wouldn't lock up a child whos father went to jail. However I would, and we do, forbid that child from benefiting from , or retaining, the spoils of that crime. And what does retroactivity have to do with this conversation? Nobody mentioned that point specifically. We're simply talking about fixing the problem now.
