actually, they take much less. If you consider insurnace, the take rate for my trips was 12% for the past month. You have to factor in insurnace costs which are substantial. I have 15k life time trips and drive full time.

@oneleggeddog this report is very misleading. Uber posts what the customer pays on every trip and what their take rate it. What they are not telling you is the cost of insurnace which is substantial.

This report is very misleading. I have 15k trips as a rideshare driver. Uber posts at the bottom in the trip details what their take rate is, for me its 12% for the past month. Where they are getting this 50-60% number is not accounting for commercial insurance payments that come out of each trip. They are substantial. On a recent trip the customer paid $11.92, I made $8.64, the insurnace cost was $1.44 and uber made $1.84 in a service fee. Uber is not making much money considering insurance. I feel they are going to have to charge at least 20% more to passengers and likely have to split that with drivers.

@factsoverfiction7826 so out of each fare there is a fee for insurance costs that goes to progressive. We do carry personal insurance but that doesn't cover commercial activities. This is why the fares are so high.

@kestononline i have thought about investing in Uber but something is fishy with this company. They don’t make any money. I think the executives are soaking the stock market while they make it seem like they are expanding. Uber is definitely going bankrupt it’s just a matter of when. I do a bunch of trips and look back and Uber lost money on the trip. It makes no sense. Like I said, the executives are boosting up their numbers to pump the stock and are doing to cash out when the company goes bust.
