Rent control is a violation of the Takings Clause of the Fifth Amendment to the United States Constitution and reads as follows: “Nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.” Essentially, the govt is taking land lords property to gain votes. Its essentially a bribe. Thousands of rent controlled apartments sit empty in NY because the owner would lose money renting them out and maintaining the property.

  2. what they don't tell you is insurance costs for land lords is skyrocketing. Alot are getting out and selling condos to get out of the rental business as a result.
