  1. Except his definition is 100% wrong. He confuses mastery with commercial success. Rembrandt, rich in his youth, could not sell in later years despite maybe being the greatest master in history because morons did not support him. At times, Leonardo had to do other things to support himself (and wrote famous letter about it). Monet was an absolute master, and broke, before his paintings started to sell. Horrible definition equating dollars earned to Mastery. And a lot of hacks make fortunes.

  3. Confusing market success with mastery. Becoming Magnus Carlson does not mean people had to buy Carlson’s stuff. It means he can smash you whether someone pays him or not. Also misunderstanding prodigy w/ normal person. Kasparov, king of chess for over 20 years, and. Prodigy, still had to work his butt off to get there. Rembrandt, the very definition of mastery, died in poverty because his paintings were not selling in his later years.
