  1. Such an HR thing to say that industry experience does not count. Staggeringly wrong. I worked in higher ed recruitment and marketing. Every senior person that was recruited from outside the industry was a trainwreck and never lasted more than a year or two, and almost always failed. Have you not ever heard of John Sculley at Apple? How many stories are there of hotshots from on industry complete failures at another industry they go to because they have no idea what they are talking about.
