That is why Montgomery was happy to put all blame on him and his man. It was not "German victory" just British incompetence and typical for British ignorance toward someone just because he was not part of British nobility... Gen. Sosabowski was experienced soldier that was also fully aware what paratroopers can and can't do as he creaded first Polish paratrooper unit and became paratrooper himself. Sosabowski pointed all the flaws of this plan during planing and Montgomery ignored his imput and after all his flaws showed to be true Montgomery lied about Sosabowski and his man and made a scapegoat out of him and the guy died in poverty and until 2006 British was doing everyithing to block any recognition of Sosabowski and his man action during operation Market Garden. In 2006 Dutch made the move to put some light on the truth but it is not the truth that British are ready to accept.

@jonathanevans4610 heh, it was all about Stalins preparation to invade its ally, so that ally need to do that first, whole Red Army in 1941 was all about attack not on deffence and that is one of main reasons why they were fighting so badly with all that superiority in numbers in 1941. Stalin was building airfields 800m from new border so it was hard to use planes on them when Germans could just use normal soldiers with basic rifles to just shot the pilots that was runing to planes during German invasion...

Just read gen. Sosabowski bio on wikipedia there is whole story why the plan failed... British wanted this plan to fail so they could use it against Polish and ignore all the promisses that they were giving to Polish government on exile and gen. Sikorski that died in plane crash with all his people but somehow Czech pilot of the plane survived... dont know any crash like that where all people die but pilot is fine.

The deal was made in Moscow and allowed Stalin to start the war and in the same put blame of that on Germany... isnt that obvious that it was Stalin idea? "already conquered" yea less than 49% was German and over 51% was conquered by Soviet Union... Soviet Union was an ally of Germany and its kinda funny that people like you not aware of basic histrical facts are ready and happy to teach history. :D Stalin also overcrowded its part of Poland with soviet soldiers.

Sosabowski during planing of the operation pointed most of the big flaws of this plan and was not only ignored by Mountgomery but he was happy to blame him for his own faults and lie that gen. Sosabowski and his soldiers were fighting badly... gen. Sosabowski died in poverty because of all that lies and British was doing everything to hide truth about him and his men in this whole operation. Dutch TV showed document about it and ofc noone in Britain saw it or is interested in facts but because of that document Dutch made decision to ignore British wishes and made recognition of Gen. Sosabowski and his man actions...

You acctually should limit your comments to TV shows videos... it was all about Soviets surendering with little to no fight and losing most of terrain that was producing food and yea WINTER WAS COMING!! And they were 100% ready to starve in that first winter of war... after that there was Lend Lease program and to the very end Red Army was doing all the fighting on food cans with Made in USA on them...

Because Russia was concetrating army on the border to attack Germany, you can easly find short German-Russian dictionaries printed in millions for Red Army with exact date of print: 2 months before German attack on Soviet Union... One airfield they made 800m from the border, super position for attack and impossible for defense as any soldier with any rifle can then just shot pilot before he is able to enter his plane cockpit...

i have the impression that history is about learning it not about impressions... Turkey were punihed badly for suport of Germany in WW1 so they learned from previous mistakes(contrary to Germans that didn't learn much to this day).

When someone is invading you then its not your choice... it was Bolshevik agresion on Poland as they wanted to spread revolution to the whole Earth->comintern and because of Comintern in Moscow Adolf was elected. Stalin via comintern ordered to communists in Germany to not vote for Adolf oposition and that was the small % of votes that Adolf needed to be on top...

He was not on the east front so why he would be influenced like that not to mention that he was not historical illiterate like you and was fully aware that Russia in WW1 lost to the Bolshevik revolution not to the German army... Stalin already printed short Russian-German dictionaries for Red Army two months before Germany invaded them... so Germans got no option but deal with that and as this whole army was build and prepared for attack it was completly usseles in deffence. Tanks like KV-2 are perfect against fortifications but in deffense its a crapy tank just like airborn troops, stalin got them few times more than all other countries in the world together and was also happy to show them to the world... Comintern was about spread of World Revolution not about "lets protect Russia".

Sosabowski and he pointed flaws of that plan perfectly but he was not a British noble so they were happy to ignore and after all his predictions were confirmed by reality he was made a scapegoat and Montgomery even lied about his and his men actions during combat and that is why gen.
