This is why green political parties tends to advocate for a circular economy, with reuse of resources. You can often extract most of a resource from a waste product if you design it with recycling in mind, you do end up with some waste, but your need for new resources drops significantly.

@mr.anderson9938 No, even when fueled by 100% coal power a electric car is still more enviroemtally friendly then a ICE car long term (through its lifetime). So ice car is only preferable if you're buying a new car that you intend to brick right away. But it's preferable that you get a electrified car with as small a battery as possible. Either living with less range, or do a PHEV in places with a unclean energy mix. In places with a good energy mix a pure electric car witha bit more battery might be worth it. But yeah, there's a limit to these resources, so it's preferable with more electrified cars then few ones with long electric range. Hence why plug in hybrids got a lot going for them.
