@Michael Walsh Battery electric planes won't ever take over the long haul market, they're too heavy with a low power pr kg ratio. But they're actually viable in some markets for shorter routes, especially with the advent of solid state batteries. There's a lot of places up north (Norway, Alaska etc) that's serviced primarily by that kind of short haul flights. And battery electric planes could actually drop the costs of operating in these markets due to lower fuel costs and lower maintenance costs for battery electric planes. I can see the potential for job creation there.
