  1. Well, things have changed quite a bit there since back then. First of all, you know those purple flowers everywhere on Iceland these days? Those are a invasive species that arrived just a few years ago and has been spreading like wildfire. Oh, and you know all those dry areas with sand? Back in the days those where forests. Not big oak trees or anything of that sort of course. Small hardy trees like you'll find in Northern Norway today barely taller then a man when shielded from the wind, and in less sheltered areas the trees are even smaller.
