The a huge chunk of the mitochondrial dna on Iceland and the Faero islands is actually Irish (in other words Irish women makes up a huge portion of the ancestors of the populations of those two areas, at times way more then what Norwegians do. If I'm reading this correctly: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1274484/ Then only about 35% of the mitrochondrial DNA is actually confirmed Scandinavian on Iceland. The rest... Irish, Scottish or from elsewhere...
