@olearyma57 Well, we where neutral in both world wars here in Norway, till we got invaded in WW2... Germany occupied the country. Then the Soviets invaded the northern parts occupied by the Germans, and the only reason we got those lands back where support from the US during the negotiations with the USSR... Being neutral doesn't mean that you can't get invaded by a beligerent in a war you're neutral in... Staying out of alliances is fine. But if that's your route you need to take the Finnish and Swedish approach of armed neutrality with a credible deterrence... You don't current have that. Alternatively you could try to join NATO with a deal similar to Iceland, given all the important cables in your waters... NATO might be inclined to go along with you not being required to have a major army in return for your strategic value.

@joshkidd5463 True, to some degree. But killing and terrorizing civilians will always be evil...

@jaws666 I'm pretty sure it's their constitution, not the Geneva convention that bans them from having a army, and there's debates about changing that (not to mention that they're in practice making a army, navy and airforce anyway)...

@Fulcrox Maybe, but it doesn't justify sending jewish refugees back to the Germans... And honestly it didn't just mean not helping a imperial power like Britain. It meant that you guys didn't help fellow neutral nations like us here in Norway. We've practically been a Danish colony for over 500 years, and haven't had any of our own since the days when we funded Dublin. We've stayed out of wars at the periphery of Europe for generations. Yet the great powers invaded us. And one day they might invade you. And if you're neutral you might end up looking at a Ukrainian situation or ours back then. Let's just say that it's not "fun" when a invader starts destroying your villages for no reason at all... Or when they burn every single building in a region of your country as a scorched earth tactics... Staying out of it isn't some kind of moral high ground. At best it might be considered pragmatic. We here in Norway benefited from the first world war to some degree. And more so on the Crimean war before that. So neutrality can be useful. But don't take it for granted.
