  1. No nukes wouldn't have lead to a invasion, Japan was already trying to offer a surrender. their only condition was to keep the Emperor, something they ended up getting anyway... So if the US had been willing to accept this conditional surrender with next to no strings attached they'd have saved a whole bunch of lives on both sides...
