People working in the oil industry makes up perhaps 7% of the workforce. We can find new jobs for them fairly easily. Oil makes up a bigger share of our export income however, (about 17% I think?) and it'll be tough, but even though we plan to ban oil exploration our oil exploitation will continue for a few more years, giving us more time to adapt our economy, and we have a lot of energy potential here still that could be sold to Germany and other countries as either direct electricity or hydrogen gas or possibly in some future form of energy storage yet to be invented. There's still plenty of potential export revenue there for many years to come still. Furthermore with less oil money in our economy our export industry should become more competitive potentially allowing us to draw more even with other Germanic nations there, we already have. We already compete in a number of areas, for instance selling components to NASA and other space companies as well as services. Producing product designs for companies such as ARM who have a office her, where they design components for mobile phones around the world etc...

He keeps making mistakes... But honestly it's not him that you guys are voting for. And the heavy focus on people rather than parties is my main objection with the MMP system in Germany (nothing near as bad as in first past the post systems though). If your parliament has any sense they'll pick another leader then him for the chancellorship. Even if it's someone else from the same party.

shrugs Your loss. That said, EU citizens entering the country that fail to gain a job within six months of entering can be expelled from the country. Something that I do not believe is the case currently in the UK.

It's not just a issue of lava breaching the defenses, there's also a second smaller eruption that's inside the defenses just meters away from the town, and three houses has already gone up in flames as a result...

@Nigel Johnson That's arrogance and ignorance talking... Brits seem to be largely unaware of how the EFTA relationship actually works...

Actually according to polls on the topic about a third of all Norwegians want to put an end to our oil exploitation. Meaning that this is just as big a issue as the left or right is politically. Environmentalists are just split among more parties instead of all gathered in a few big ones (some of them do vote for or take part in some of those bigger parties, trying to change them from within). There's a reason why Ap is split almost through the middle on this topic. There's enough support to force this through. The question is just the actual parliament *composition*. So no, in 50 years time we've definitely put an end to the oil exploitation a long time ago, not sure if it'll happen this election or the next though). There still is such a thing as tactical errors done by the political parties.

Correct. Unfortunatly. Freedom of movement is a positive in my view. But freedom of services, capital and goods isn't always a positive. That said, we are excluded from the rules with regards to agriculture and fishery. We do have customs checks for goods entering and exiting the country. And we can expel EU citizens who fail to get a job within 6 months of entering the country among other things.
