I suspect that the UK has always been a bit more focused on stealth then the US has. The UK was fighting the Germans on the continent, they couldn't rely on superior firepower and invasions, they had to do strikes to take out the enemys fighting capability a little bit at a time. Working with resistance movements. Ambushing enemies etc. The US... You guys where doing naval invasions more then anything. Island jumping vs Japan, D-Day etc... It's just a different focus based on different experiences... The US can afford to wait till you guys are ready to really go in all shock and awe. Here in Europe our adversaries are often our equals or superiors in firepower, so we have to be superior to them in other ways.
