Hum... Short term its about geopolitics, not the environment. Medium term a LNG terminal can in theory be used to transport green hydrogen... And gas power plants can be designed to burn clean green hydrogen. It's not as efficient or green as using fuel cells, but it's more flexible by supporting multiple different fuel types increasing energy security. It's still a improvement over coal, and the sources of nuclear fuel is... Problematic... Long term... We definitely need to switch over to renewables... But the "not in my back yard" mindset is a thing... And Germany is tearing down more windmills then the country is erecting...
