  1. One thing you're forgetting is that the fleets available to the French directly where not the only ones on the continent. Part of the reason why Britain attacked Denmark-Norway for instance was concern about our fleet falling into Napoleons hands. And ours wheren't the only one. Also, military ships isn't everything. Enough merchant fleet ships pressed into troop transport services could potentially have transported enough men over to allow Napoleon to afford losing some.
