  1. Regarding the whole "does the AMD IPC advantage make up for the Intel clock speed advantage" thing... It depends on the workload and how many threads on the same core is being used. AMD generally does better when two threads on the same core is used vs Intel in the same situation. And Intel generally does better when you just load a single thread pr core. Of course in both cases it's workload specific with different combinations of instructions favoring one or the other. If AMD can fix their uncore disadvantages and clockspeed disadvantage then they should in theory outperform Intel quite a bit.
