Change to a multi party system that's proportional with multiple possible configurations and it'll mitigate many of these issues. Yes a Trumpist party will exist in such a system and have some political power. But more both right wing and centrist parties will emerge and a balance of power will be reached where Trumpists won't rule unless said parties let them, and said parties can enter coalitions with centrist parties on the left if desired. Basically those parties have options, and politics as a whole stops being so tightly bound to a single left-right scale but actually tied more to individual policies rather than people.
