Hopefully the area will one day become independent again. And it's small enough that India, Pakistan and quite frankly the west all can force a independent Kasmir to have a fair relationship between its ethnic groups. Kasmir being independent would reduce Pakistani worries about their water supplies being rerouted. A independent Kasmir would also mean that India could work towards blocking Chinese influences and have a free way out of the sub-continent that's not under Pakistani control. And local resources would be available to the Indian economy. The relationship with Pakistan could probably also improve. It's not a perfect solution for any of the parties, but it's the only one that could lead to long term peace.

@mtk3755 Regardless of this video it was independent and it should be independent. Neither a part of India nor Pakistan. Any ideas about it belonging to either nation is mostly Indian or Pakistani nationalism.
