1:11 Eh, regarding blueberries... There's a difference between vaccinium corymbosum and vaccinium myrtillus... Yes, vaccinium corymbosum is native to North America only, however vaccinium myrtillus is common in Europe and all the way from Greenland in the west to Siberia in the east. Vaccinium myrtillus was likely a part of the diet of Europeans already during the ice age... I have no idea about when cultivation started though...

3:53 Hum, I didn't know about 1st Cavalry Division (Wehrmacht) Any chance of hearing more about them? =)

A directly elected president is a bad idea in my view... Imagine 10 parties, 1 far left, 1 far right, and the rest center left (or if you prefer center right) One of the two extremist parties get 1 more votes then the other extremist party that in turn gets 1 more vote then the third biggest party, each with around 10% of the votes. Single round election hoes to a extremist party despite 90% of the voters voting for parties on the opposite side of the political spectrum from the biggest party. Two round election would lead to two extremists facing each other, leaving voters with a plague or cholera type choice, as they're mostly far more centrist. How on Earth is that democratic? Single representative constituencies is inherently undemocratic. No, the only democratic process in my view is parliamentarianism. Then the smaller parties get a say too and you end up with a compromise solution.

Do you watch Perun and Willy OEM? They're both excellent Australian YouTubers. I also really like the Austrian YouTuber Kraut.

Regarding the critique. Undemocratic, too slow and takes away national sovereignty. You can't really have all three. I don't believe the EU being slow is a problem. It's not the EUs job to be fast. It's the national goverments job to be agile. The EU is there to help us work together. But you can't get that many nations to align fast in a democratic way. The bigger the democracy the less democratic it is by default.

Not bad, but I'm not convinced that they'll be effective enough vs modern diesel electric submarines with disel engines able to operate underwater without breathing air. I suspect that in war games with these things and aircraft carriers and modern subs like the nordic ones they'll help improve the situation from what used to be a 100% kill rate with a Swedish sub vs the US aircraft carriers to something more equal. But the subs will continue to score kills even with these things. The stealth of subs is extremely* difficult to counter, and advances in missiles and torpedoes just makes the submarines even more deadly.

Thank you so, so much for covering this. I live in Trøndelag in Norway so this covers some of our ancestors and a part of our history that's otherwise hard to pin down...

Hum, I'd kind of like to "like" your video, but with 400 likes and 4 dislikes it's just too perfect... -_-

Your idea about maths actually being out there just isn't something that we have any reason to believe. I believe that David Humes has the best approach here. We humans have the power of definition in maths. The fundamentals doesn't exist out there, but inside our minds, where we create them. Then we use our assumptions to conceptualize our ideas about relationships, balding logic systems, be that math or formal logic in philosophy etc. Once we have an idea about a relationship we can apply it on the real world. Alternatively we can go the other way, but in either case we're fitting the math to the data, not the other way around. And when we find useful results it's only because we lewrn to use maths as a rool to help us conceptualize things. But there's no actual evidence of an actual relationship between our logic and the world.

Um, while you're technically correct about the things you said about the EU vs the US I'd still like to comment about the size thing... While the EU is smaller then the US Europe as a whole is actually *bigger*. And those trucks operate outside the EU too in countries like Norway, Switzerland, Ukraine and so one and so forth... And while Russia has poor infrastructure their European part actually has a lot of pretty decent roads in their core areas in the southwest where these trucks also operate. So the size argument doesn't really hold water. The differences in terrain however is most definitely accurate. Norway, Spain, Switzerland and Austria, Italy, Hungary, Montenegro... All of these countries have pretty rugged terrain with some serious mountains that needs to be dealt with...

The plane with the propeller doesn't burn hydrogen in a turbine at all. It uses fuel cells to produce electricity to drive electric engines, a completely different form of propulsion. Also burning hydrogen in turbines isn't entirely environmentally friendly if it's burned in air (in part because said air contains other things then just O2 but also because the temperatures in question allows other chemical reactions, with fuel cells you really just get one chemical reaction, oh, and another thing, planes fly high enough that some of the gas coming in is ozone, perhaps not ideal to burn that...)

Goose is used as a insult over there too? It's somewhat archaic, but is used in Norway too.

+ @ExplainingComputers Noticed that I used "probably"? ;-) Most people are not aware of how many features VLC actually got. Here's a interesting video showing several of them. =) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XHprwDJ0-fU

That was a interesting video. =) I do follow AI focused videos to some degree. In part due to the success of Alpha Zero and Leela Chess Zero in the field of chess.

This sounds interesting. I'm having so, so much issues with being unable to fall asleep when I want and feeling exhausted when I wake up that this is actually tempting...

Look up Bergen, Norway. 202-239 days of rain.
